Making the decision to get your art degree is an important one. But before you sign up for your first course, however, you need to be certain that you have secured your financial aid for the tuition. Here is a brief guide that outlines the process.
Before you apply for financial aid for your art school, you need to be aware of any deadlines that are set by the college or university. Many schools have early deadlines, so you need to be sure that you know when they are, so that you can plan accordingly.
Once you know your timeframe, then the next step to securing your financial aid is to fill out the Free Application for Student Financial Aid, or FAFSA. This is available from the U.S. Department of Education in both paper and online forms. While it is certainly acceptable to fill it out as a paper form, it is probably best to complete the form online. This will allow you to complete the application in a more timely manner, giving you more time to spend on the loan application process. After you have completed the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report, or SAR. This will outline which programmes that you are eligible for.
Once you have all of the necessary information, you need to contact your financial aid advisor, who will be responsible for walking you through the student loan process. He or she will be very happy to answer any questions that you may have about your eligibility. You may want to consider working part-time while earning your degree. Many students have worked their ways through college. This is a great option, as it will give you a better idea of which types of work environments will suit your personality and perhaps even help you to secure employment once you’ve graduated.
Securing funding for your art studies is as important as being accepted into an art school and is a process which should be started as early as possible.
